Provincial regulator vs. national assessment — the distinction that trips people up
NNAS (the National Nursing Assessment Service) is the shared front door most provinces use to assess an internationally educated nurse's credentials once, centrally. Provincial regulators — Nova Scotia's included, alongside Ontario's CNO, British Columbia's BCCNM/CRNBC, Alberta's CRNA and Manitoba's CRNM, all of which we already handle — are the bodies that actually grant the licence to practice in that specific province, and each sets its own registration requirements on top of the NNAS report. Clearing NNAS does not by itself register you in Nova Scotia; the provincial application is a separate, later step that draws on the same underlying credentials.

What stays constant: your council registration certificate, identity documents matching your passport spelling, and — usually — an NNAS reference if you have already gone through that assessment.
